It’s a Pokemon world, and we just live in it. To prove this undeniable fact, the Pokemon Company has announced the next new mainline games in the series. Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in late 2022. You can preorder either or both games right now.

What Are Pokemon Violet and Scarlet
Pokemon Violet and Scarlet are the next pair of mainline Pokemon games. They’re not remakes, like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They’re not genre-expanding spinoffs, like Pokemon Legends: Arceus. But that’s not to say they don’t push the series forward. These are open-world games in which “various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.”
Scarlet and Violet take place in a new region, with Pokemon existing all around you. The starters this time are the Grass Cat Sprigatito, the Fire Croc Fuecoco, and the Water Duckling Quaxly. They are all exceedingly adorable, IMO.
The developer hasn’t announced all the differences between the two versions, but we do know you’ll wear different outfits depending on which you choose. Pokemon Scarlet has you dress in red shorts and tie, while Violet puts you in (you guessed it) purple.
