Quake II on Game Pass

If you can remember back a couple of years, you would have seen the original Quake get enhanced, dropping onto Xbox and Game Pass as it came. Now it’s time for the sequel to get the same treatment. Yep, Quake II is on Game Pass, and Xbox, and PlayStation, and Switch, AND PC. What are you waiting for?

Having first released back in 1997, Quake II now comes to the modern day gamer with all the good bits in place, just enhanced. And not only does it come with all the usual suspects in those terms, but you’ve got an all-new expansion to play through too.

Present and correct right now, Quake II on Game Pass is the way we would play it. If you would prefer to open the wallet and splash some cash though, that is also possible. In fact, as long as you have an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, or want to make the most of Cloud Gaming through your mobile, you will be sorted with an Xbox Store download.

And of course, Quake II is also on PS4, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC too.

A huge Quake II package

Pushed out courtesy of Bethesda Softworks, you’re getting an absolute ton in this new Quake II package. Taking the original game, there are now 4K visuals in place, and Series X|S optimisation, widescreen support and enhanced models. There are improvements to enemy animations and that iconic Quake gore as well.

Further are improvements to AI behaviour, enhanced cinematics, antialiasing and pretty much everything and anything you would expect.

Oh yeah, and the heavy rock soundtrack you would have loved back in the day? Yep, still here.

The base game of Quake II on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC will see you massively outnumbered. But you’ll never ben outgunned in Quake II, kitted out with everything you could ask for.

But for us it is probably the addition of further levels and features that really sell Quake II. You’ll find the original mission packs in place – The Reckoning and Ground Zero. Between them, that’s upwards of thirty campaign levels and twenty deathmatch maps.

And now there is also the chance to play through an all-new Quake II experience. Put together by MachineGames, Call of the Machine is some twenty-eight stages in length, complete with a multiplayer map for good measure.

There’s more though. Quake II 64 comes for free (yes, you’re reading that right), whilst online and local multiplayer and cooperative play is in place. And that multiplayer is complete with crossplay too.
