Respawn is bringing big changes to Apex Legends

Respawn has finally listened to the community.

As the hype dies down from the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs, Respawn is eager to get fans ready for the new season. It has just released its first teaser trailer to clue fans in on what to expect with Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry.

This includes the introduction of the team deathmatch game mode, a reworked legend class system, a brand new assault rifle, as well as a ‘mixtape’ playlist that features all of its popular limited-time modes. The ranked and pub map rotation will also change every 24 hours instead of at the end of the split.

One of the biggest changes that Respawn will bring to Apex Legends is doing away with Arenas and making room for team deathmatch. This will be a six-versus-six game mode and the first team to reach 30 kills win. You must win two rounds to win the series. Much like the Control LTM, you will get to choose your own loadout.

Respawn will also not be introducing a new legend this season and instead, will rework the entire legends class system with new perks while also buffing and nerfing some of your favourite legends. From the official video by Respawn’s Twitter, they did say that the likes of Seer, Wraith, and Lifeline will be included in the list.

Apex Legends Class System Rework

  • Assault – Maggie, Ash, Bangalore, Revenant, Fuse
  • Skirmisher – Valkyrie, Wraith, Mirage, Horizon, Octane, Pathfinder
  • Recon – Crypto, Seer, Vantage, Bloodhound
  • Controller – Catalyst, Rampart, Wattson, Caustic
  • Support – Newcastle, Lifeline, Loba, Gibraltar

In that same video, the devs of Respawn also spoke about a new weapon known as the Nemesis Burst AR, an energy ammo rifle that fires automatic bursts that gets faster the more you shoot. While not much is known yet about the AR, the devs themselves have said they expect it to compete with the R-301 as well as the Flatline, two of the most popular ARs in the game right now.

There is also something in the works for new players to Apex Legends. This will be the new Orientation Match system, which will look to help ease newer players into the sometimes disorientating, oftentimes chaotic world of battle royale. Respawn is also looking to revamp the firing range by adding newer features as well as including bots.

As always, there will be a new battle pass coming your way as well as an anniversary collection event with Apex Legends hitting four years. And rumour has it that there will be Heirloom Shards up for grabs at the end of the collection event so be sure to look out for that.

The official gameplay trailer will be launched tomorrow while Season 16: Revelry will be introduced on February 14!
