Risky Woods on Xbox is properly old-school

We think we’ve played Risky Woods before. We don’t remember when, where or how, but watching the trailer and taking in the screenshots evokes the smallest of memories. It’s now playable on Xbox too – all thanks to those at QUbyte Interactive.

Risky Woods first released back in 1992, and it was probably about then that we played it on our Amiga of the time. And whilst we remember little, it is obviously a game that many got behind, if only to warrant QUByte with a push to the Xbox world.

The latest Classic to come to Xbox

Priced at £8.39 and playable right now is Risky Woods on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This is the latest in the ever-increasingly long line of QUByte Classics titles (others include The Samurai Collection and Thunderbolt Collection), as the team take ‘classics’ from back in the day and throw the experience out to a more modern audience.

A side-scrolling platformer, Risky Woods on Xbox has you playing as Rohan. It’s here where you find yourself as the most heroic of warriors, looking to deliver justice, piling on the pain to the hordes of evil that get in your way.

A simple premise, but it’s one that we can get involved in. None more so because Rohan is fully equipped with a decent arsenal of weapons. Chucking whatever is to hand at evil never gets old and it’s this we’ll be doing throughout our time in Risky Woods.

The end goal is to ultimately free some monks who have found themselves chained up by some captor. The question is, can you make your way through the Risky Woods in order to make them safe?

Will you play Risky Woods on Xbox?

If you played Risky Woods back in the day and have fond memories, we’d suspect a release of Risky Woods on Xbox will be of interest. If not, you’ll probably need some kind of retro love to get real enjoyment from this one.

Whatever, we’ll look to review soon, letting you know how Risky Woods on Xbox plays.

You can get involved by grabbing a download from the Xbox Store. Risky Woods is playable on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Game Description

Fortunately, you – the young warrior Rohan – have arrived to deliver justice to the evil hordes. With weapons in hand you must enter the risky woods and free the monks from their petrified captivity. Only when you’ve set the monks free and sent Draxos back to hell will wisdom be restored for good.
