Romantic Visual Novel SINce Memories Remembers to Release in the West on PS4

Memories Off is a long-running series of romantic novels which first debuted on the PlayStation in 1999. Despite spawning multiple sequels, and being localised into languages like Korean and Traditional Chinese, it’s never actually launched in Western territories – well, until now. PQube is on the case, with SINce Memories: Off the Starry Sky targeting a 2024 launch on the PS4.

It’s worth noting, this game first released in 2021 in Asia, so it’s a few years old at this point. Nevertheless, the plot represents something of a reboot for the series, set ten years after the events of the Memories Off series. We suppose the theory here is that newcomers should be able to pick up the story fine, especially when none of the previous titles were localised.

“Grieving the death of his brother, Junya is confronted by a mysterious girl who utters the words, ‘you should have been the one to die,’” the summary reads. “Plagued by his tragic past, yet surrounded by those that want to help him, Junya begins renovating a traditional Japanese manor house, a task so large he cannot tackle it alone.”

Obviously, this is a visual novel, so you can expect the gameplay to mainly consist of reading and dialogue decisions, although you will find different character routes to explore along the way. The key here will be the quality of the localisation: a visual novel lives and dies by its art and writing, and while we’re fairly confident in the former, we’ll need to see how the latter holds up.
