Sega Genesis Mini 2 Launches in North America on October 27

A little over a month ago, Sega announced the Sega Genesis Mini 2, another mini console bringing a library of 50 games, including a number of Sega CD titles. At the time, the mini console was only announced for Japan, with a release date of October 27, leaving many to wonder what the company’s plans for other regions were. Now we have some clarity on that front.

Sega has announced that the Sega Genesis Mini 2 will indeed be launching in North America as well, and will see a simultaneous October 27 launch. It’s also been confirmed that it’ll be sold exclusively via Amazon, where it’s retailing for $103. In Japan, the mini console’s price is set at 9,980 yen, which is approximately $76, so that’s a bit of a mark-up.

Whether or not Sega also plans to bring the Genesis Mini 2 to Europe and other markets remains to be seen, though it’s likely that those announcements will also be made in the near future.
