Shade (Blink)

Shade (Blink)

You have been nagging me about this FTP Infantry hero, so here it is. Now sit up and pay attention because I won’t be repeating myself. Shade doesn’t rank highly on the list of FTP heroes but still presents a decent option. He also boasts a great design compared to most Lords Mobile heroes.

If you are looking for a hero to assign the castle guard position, Shade is one of your best bets. He boasts some valuable skills useful in the Colosseum, especially if you learn how to apply them correctly.

“All I need is one good stab!” – Blink

Who Is Shade?

Shade’s real name is Blink. His backstory is one of the few you can sit through from IGG. It’s still a lazy one considering how short it is, but they probably took an entire lunch break to come up with it. Good for them.

Shade is one stealthy creature that can sneak past any guard in the dead of night and kill them. Unnoticed, he goes on to plan his next skill. He is a vicious assassin who never fails and takes no prisoners.

Now, this is one of my favorite parts. This hero’s look and design are quite a marvel. He depicts badassery at its best. His intimidating looks and chilling backstory are epic. This guy comes with a good mix of Battle Skills with the ability to build wall traps and defend your castle.

Blink’s Hero Skills aren’t too shabby either, with his ultimate skill enabling him to deal three times the physical damage to multiple enemies at once. But, he has some downsides. Blink can’t provide your troops with either Infantry ATK or HP boosts, making him useable only in particular situations.

Overall, I’d give Shade a rating of 5.8/10.

Specifications

This section will outline all of Blink’s Battle and Hero Skills. Hopefully, it will jog your memory and help you understand why he deserves that 5.8 rating.

First, let’s look at his Battle Skills:

Shade Battle SkillsShade Battle Skills
  • Supersonic Attack: This tactical skill deals up to 200% Squad ATK as DMG to enemy troops.
  • Castle Guard: This is a passive skill to guard the Castle walls. It increases the Castle Guard DEF by up to 60%.
  • Trap Construction boost: This skill will speed up your trap-building skill by up to 40%.
  • Infantry DEF Boost: Activated only when Shade is deployed for battle, it boosts Infantry DEF by up to 50%.

This set of Battle Skills makes Blink the perfect choice for Castle Guard. His trap construction boost comes in handy in protecting your walls, and the added Infantry DEF will help him provide a formidable defense during attack. But an Infantry ATK and HP boost would have made him even better.

Next, let’s take a look at his Hero Skills:

Shade Hero SkillsShade Hero Skills
  • Ambush: This ultimate attack deals up to 200% damage to all enemies in a small area by swiftly attacking them from the side.
  • Elusion: You can utilize this active skill whenever you need to. It helps Shade assume an exclusive stance resulting in an increase in Reflux for 8 seconds.
  • Muting Missile: This secondary skill involves Shade flinging his killer dagger at the enemy inflicting Silence for five seconds.
  • Assassin’s Lore: Shade continuously damages the enemy’s weakest point, all thanks to his training.

This is a decent set of Hero Skills. His ultimate skill, Ambush, is great because it deals damage to multiple enemies, while the Assassin’s Lore comes in handy, especially in the Colosseum. But a maxed-out Shade will be your best bet. If you don’t plan to do this, don’t bother to unlock him.

Here’s some extra information about Shade:

  • Type: Infantry
  • Classes: Agility
  • Species: Human
  • Sex: Male
  • Movement: Running

How to Unlock Shade

How to Unlock ShadeHow to Unlock Shade

You need 10 medals to unlock Shade which you can collect in the Elite Hero stages:

  • Elite 3-9: This is referred to as the “Bad Blood” stage.
  • Elite 5-12: This consists of “Mission Above All.”

You need a total of 330 medals to upgrade Blink to Gold/Legendary grade. Even though it’s easy to unlock Shade, the most important thing to do is max him out because he is completely useless otherwise.

Shade and the Colosseum

Shade is a viable choice for the Colosseum, even though he isn’t included in part of the meta. If you are fighting against enemies with high magic DEF, you can use Shade’s Muting Missile to silence the enemies. He also acts as a great assassin for the Colosseum because he quickly takes out stunners and healers in the enemy’s lineup. You can also use him to defend your turf.

But you have to be careful to place him in a lineup with good support heroes and healers. Otherwise, he’ll die too quickly because he can’t tank. In simpler terms, Blink knows something about dishing out DMG but nothing about taking a hit.

Rallying With Shade

Granted, Blink has good defense skills making him a decent option for any defense formation. But he doesn’t make a good Rallying leader. He lacks Infantry ATK and HP boosts, essential for every Infantry Commander. Apart from this, his trap construction boost and wall defense are passive skills, so there’s nothing more you’re getting by using him as your Infantry Commander.

If you want to blow off my advice, you can use him as your Rallying leader. But be forewarned, most experienced players rank him as the lowest infantry hero in Lords Mobile. That means that you’re outing yourself as a noob if you do.

Monster Hunting With Shade

Selecting a hero for Monster Hunting requires careful thought. Though Shade is a viable choice for the Colosseum, he’s not so much for these hunts. There are better heroes with magic DEF and magic ATK that make for more logical choices.

In case you missed it: Shade has no business appearing in your Monster Hunting lineup. But you do you.

Tips and Trivia

  • F2P Alternatives: Demon Slayer and Oath Keeper are the best infantry heroes if you’re looking for Infantry ATK and HP boosts. Sea Squire and Soul Forger are also good options if you’re looking for heroes with Infantry ATK.
  • P2P Alternatives: Twilight Princess and Grim Wolf are great P2P alternatives for Shade. They will boost all relevant Battle Skills, including Infantry ATK, DEF, and HP. These are skills that Shade doesn’t have.
