Should you save Wyll or his father in Baldur's Gate 3?

Should you save Wyll or his father in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Throughout Wyll’s questline in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll soon face a tough decision. During Act Three, Mizora will reveal that Wyll has the chance to break his contract with Mizora for good, but on one condition. Save his own life and free himself of his pact for the price of his father’s life. The opposite choice is to save Wyll’s father, but his contract with Mizora stays in tact. You can sway Wyll towards either decision, but it’s quite tough to decide. We’ll let you know whether you should save Wyll or his father in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Save Wyll and break Mizora’s contract or save the Grand Duke?

If you’re not sure what will come out of these two decisions, we have some answers for you. Personally, I believe you should save Wyll over his father in Baldur’s Gate 3. Why is that? Well, although Mizora says that not going with her new deal will end up with the Grand Duke dying, that’s far from the truth. You still have time to save Wyll’s father if you refuse the contract.

Choice: Save Wyll’s father by re-signing his contract with Mizora

Although you may have helped break Wyll’s contract with Mizora, she wants to make another deal. If you do decide to make this decision, Wyll’s life will be back in Mizora’s hands. But at least Mizora will tell you where the Grand Duke is imprisoned. She’ll offer her help to rescue the Grand Duke from the Iron Throne. Although Wyll will probably feel better about himself because he valiantly sacrificed his soul for his father, you shouldn’t go this path. I’ll explain why below.

Choice: Save Wyll and break his contract, but sacrifice his father’s life

Mizora states that breaking the pact will ensure that the Grand Duke dies, but you shouldn’t believe her. Wyll will feel pretty bad about his decision if you choose this, although he does get to keep his Warlock powers. No matter though, because you can still find out about the Iron Throne.

I decided to convince Wyll to break his contract, and a bit later on I took on the quest to disable the Steel Watch Foundry. You’ll find out while persuing this quest that there are many hostages imprisoned in the Iron Throne, and you can discover where to find it.

Although I never expected to see the Grand Duke there, he ended up still being alive in this underwater prison. If you rescue him, Mizora will attempt to stop you by sending explosive spiders your way. You can still make an escape, and bring Wyll’s father back to your camp. They’ll both be appreciative of what you’ve done, and you can continue Wyll’s questline from here. Essentially, Wyll’s better ending comes from you saving Wyll, since you can still save his father in the end.
