Some PS Plus Extra Subscribers Face Issues Downloading Final Fantasy VII Remake PS5 Version

The licensing problems of the PS Store have struck again as some PS Plus Extra subscribers report they can’t redeem and download Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade through the service. On the console store itself, subscribers are told they already own a different version of the game and so cannot claim the PS5 version, while the webstore simply labels the SKU “not available for purchase”.

Users have attempted to restore licenses on the PS5 console itself to no avail. There doesn’t appear to be a fix at the time of writing, so we’re waiting on Sony to issue an update for the PS Store. If you’ve never claimed a copy of the game off the PS Store, though, you should be good to start downloading Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

This isn’t the first time Final Fantasy VII Remake and PS Plus have caused headaches either, since when the game was made available through PS Plus late last year, those who already bought it on a disc found they still needed it to play the game despite owning a digital copy. Today’s new problem appears to be another PS Store error that will be fixed in due course, but it is preventing many PS Plus Extra subscribers from accessing the content they have a right to.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade isn’t just an updated PS5 version that looks and runs better — it also contains story expansion Episode INTERmission. Therefore, there’s reason for PS4 owners to download and play the PS5 edition beyond it looking a bit better. We’ll update you if and when this issue is fixed.

While you wait, you could always take Stray for a spin, or one of the other 20 PS5, PS4, and Classic titles added to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium with today’s drop. Then there’s our list of All PS Plus Games available now, ensuring you’ll have something to play while the problem is fixed.
