Something for the Weekend – 06/11/21

November is here, and it has got noticeably more chilly! This week has also seen some notable releases, such as Call of Duty: Vanguard or the huge new update and DLC for Animal Crossing. And, there’s no sign of the releases slowing, as next week we’ve got Forza Horizon 5 (well, you can play it now in early access), the GTA Trilogy Remaster and many more to look forward to.

But, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look back at what else happened this week in our gaming round-up:

In the News This Week

Staying with the reviews for a minute, Dom also shared his first thoughts from his review in progress for Shin Megami Tensei V, of which you can expect the full thing next week. Stefan followed up our review of Forza 5 with a performance comparison between the Xbox Series and Xbox One. The Xbox One X holds up surprisingly well against the Xbox Series X!

From the previews, Jim looked at Book of Travels, which he described as being ‘like no other video game you’ve played’ thanks to its blend of visual novel and RPG gameplay.

Following Nintendo’s announcement of Switch Online + Expansion Pack, Stefan pondered if the subscription pack is “good enough” for those wanting to enjoy some classic N64 games?

Rounding the week out, What We Played featured Forza Horizon 5, Animal Crossing: New Horizons & Deathloop.

Your Achievements

Here’s what you in our community has been up to this week:

  • willbuchanan continued to enjoy Need for Speed Heat, finishing off the story and now moves onto Pikmin Bloom.
  • After enjoying his birthday, MrYd played a few PSVR games this week. While not being sure about the Walking Dead, Until You Fall and First Class Trouble was more to his liking, while from PS Now, the Mafia remaster impressed him.
  • It was more of a return to Breath of the Wild for ron_mcphatty. “I’m remembering a lot but there’s so much that feels completely new too!”
  • With splurging on a new Fanatec DD wheelbase and pedals to replace a broken old wheel, camdaz has been delighted to find it improve his digital racing. “I never thought changing to Fanatec would make so much difference to the driving experience. I’m able to get the power down a lot earlier in the corners without worrying about spinning out, the car is more under control at it’s limit and like everyone says about DD wheels I’m a lot more consistent lap after lap.”

That’s it for this edition. Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you again soon!
