Switch was the best-selling console of 2022 in the United States

According to the latest NPD data, Switch was the best-selling console of 2022 in the United States. It was followed by the PlayStation 5 in second and Xbox Series in third.
That statistic is based on unit sales. If dollar sales were considered, it’d be the PlayStation 5 in first, Switch in second place, and Xbox Series in third. However, Switch isn’t as expensive as the PS5, which is an important factor.
This week, NPD also reported data for the month of December specifically. But the hardware results were the same across the board for units and dollars – with Switch and PS5 leading in those categories respectively. A total of $1.5 billion was spent on consoles last month.
