Take-Two Interactive has now commented directly on the price of the just-announced Switch version of Red Dead Redemption.

The game will cost $50 physically and digitally, which some people aren’t happy about. While it received a good amount of acclaim back in the day, when the title comes to Switch (and PS4), it’ll be more straightforward compared to the usual remasters and remakes we’ve been seeing these days. On top of that, multiplayer won’t be included.

CEO Strauss Zelnick was recently approached by IGN about the Red Dead Redemption re-release price by IGN. In response, he said: “That’s just what we believe is the commercially accurate price for it.”

Take-Two EVP of finance Hannah Sage chimed in as well. She pointed to the fact that Undead Nightmare will be included in the main package. However, when asked if Undead Nightmare was the reason for its $50 price, Zelnick said the add-on “was a great standalone game in its own right when it was originally released, so we feel like it’s a great bundle for the first time, and certainly a great value for consumers.”

Red Dead Redemption will begin to be made available for Switch when it hits the Switch eShop next Thursday. The physical version will follow later.
