Tencent Is Working on a Mobile Adaptation of ‘Elden Ring’ According to Reuters’ Sources – TouchArcade

Reuters just published a report that Tencent has been working to adapt FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Elden Ring for mobile. This is being done to try and find a new hit for the company. Elden Ring is one of the most critically acclaimed games of the last decade, and it is one I’ve enjoyed playing multiple times. While mobile is no stranger to soulslikes, Tencent’s adaptation reportedly aims to make Elden Ring a free to play release with in app purchases similar to Genshin Impact rather than a pay to play game. Tencent also owns a 16% stake in FromSoftware, which I forgot about before Reuters report.

Barring this Reuters report, everyone who played Elden Ring before including myself is hoping to see something for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion that is hopefully due soon. I expect announcements around the game’s anniversary with potentially a Game of the Year edition bundle for the base release and this new DLC. Elden Ring is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam worldwide. It is also Steam Deck Verified, and plays great on Valve’s handheld. What do you think of Tencent’s potential free to play adaptation of Elden Ring for mobile and did you enjoy Elden Ring on PC or console?
