TFT Patch 13.1 Notes: Massive New Year Patch Makes Large Adjustments

TFT Patch 13.1 Notes reveal a large number of system and balance changes along with a new game mode and a limited-time Lunar New Year event.

From Regular Augment changes to Hero Augment adjustments, TFT’s Patch 13.1 includes them all. Kroger drop items and carousel adjustments also make up some of the changes intended to release with TFT’s first patch of the year. A Lunar Gala Event has also been unveiled, offering four weeks of non-stop rewards and cosmetics, lasting from January 11 to Feb 9.

The Set 8 patch also incorporates a variety of system changes and adjusts a large number of champions, mainly three-cost and four-cost units. A limited-time game mode called Fortune’s Favor is also lined up for a Patch 13.1 release. Riot has also focused on delivering high-quality Chibi champion special animations and skins through its four-week Lunar New Year event.

TFT Patch 13.1 General Changes

Carousel Adjustments

The 3x Tear of the Goddess /3x Sparring Gloves /3x Random Components carousel has been changed to 3x Tears /3x Gloves /3x Giant’s Belts

Champion Star Level Spell Scaling

We’re reducing the spell scaling for every 3-star two and three-cost unit, as they are overperforming across the board relative to how difficult they are to get. With increased player damage, we are seeing a faster meta that’s more reliant on starting up lower-cost units. Nerfing this win condition means taking the risk of rolling down later will be a more consistent payoff, as players who spiked with their 3-star two/three cost will be a bit weaker.

  • 3-star two cost champions spell scaling: 60% changed to 55%
  • 3-star three cost champions spell scaling: 75% changed to 65%

Four-Cost Champions

The pesky Bel’Veth bug that caused her Attack Damage to not scale with some items, has been finally fixed. This means that the champion would function, as intended, instead of the buggy variant that ended up being a weaker iteration of the champion. In view of this, Riot are also deploying spa series of minor nerfs that will keep the champion in a balanced state after the bug-fix that counts as a buff (allows the champion to AD scale with items).

TFT Patch 13.1 Notes Hero Augment Changes

Lee Sin’s Hero Augment receives a slight rework that now removes all the negative effects upon casting, regenerating about 18% of missing health. The earlier iteration of Lee Sin’s Hero Augment was neither in place of power nor weak – so it made perfect sense to Riot’s TFT team to introduce a rework that made the champions Hero Augment more or less, useful. On the other hand,Yuumi’s “carry” Hero Augment receives an AP nerf that aims to weaken her overall “stringer than required” state. Her Critical Strike Damage, however, remains unchanged.
