The Intellivision Amico has been a rollercoaster of a situation. There have been issues with its funding, contriversies about the games and then delay after delay followed by cancellations of orders. Well, now a new development has come that suggests a finality to the story.
On June 20, 2022, the trademark for the Intellivsion Amico was officially abandoned by the holders. The mark on it shows it still has an attorney of record attached from the firm handling the omnibus patent, and considering the high regard of the firm, it is unlikely that this is due to a failure to pay a fee for an extension. This is also unlikely to be a case of Intellivision being unable to afford the fee as the cost is rather low and well within affordability for the company.
It is therefore almost a certainty that Intellivision requested the attorney not to file the extension, as the company has no intention of using the trademark. In other words, the Amico has come to an end.
