The Steam Summer Sale has arrived with a pretty fun teaser trailer

The annual Steam Summer Sale is upon us.

Steam’s 2022 Summer Sale has kicked off, cutting down prices for a smorgasbord of games like Cyberpunk 2077, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Monster Hunter Rise – just to name a few. This year’s Steam Summer Sale is called Steam 3000, and Valve even put a trailer out to advertise the sale – which isn’t something it usually does.

You might recognise the video’s host as Kaci Aitchison – once a Dota 2 event host and interviewer, now full-time employee at Valve. In addition to the usual discounts, this year’s Summer Sale also has a whole bunch of trading cards and badges for users to pick up every day until the sale ends on July 7 at 1pm ET. There’s also an actual questline to follow involving a time-traveling trickster named Clorthax, who wants you to guess the names of ten games he’s stolen from the future in exchange for badges.

So, you know, a typical summer sale all in all. While sales on Steam aren’t exactly rare occurrences, this is a pretty far-reaching event that puts games of all shapes and sizes on big discounts. We just took a peek at the sale today and noticed some great and pretty recent blockbusters like Resident Evil Village, Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop, Red Dead Redemption 2 and more at 50% off if not higher.

You might get a whole lot more bang for your buck if you reach back a few years and pick up some older games or indie titles at massive price cuts, however. There are a ton of great games, such as Hades, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Slay the Spire and more, going for little more than the price of a coffee. Or at least, a Starbucks coffee. With nut milk.
