Tomb Raider Anime For Netflix Brings Back Jonah And Zip

Netflix’s upcoming Tomb Raider animated series has added two new cast members, including the actor who played a major role in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Earl Baylon, who played Jonah in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, is coming back to voice the character in the anime. Allen Maldonado (Heels, The Last OG) will voice Zip, a character who appeared in Tomb Raider Chronicles, Legend, and Underworld. As announced previously, Hayley Atwell (Peggy from the Captain America movies) voices Lara Croft.

The Tomb Raider anime will follow Lara Croft’s adventures after the events of the Crystal Dynamics reboot trilogy, which wrapped up with 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It’s written by Tasha Huo.

“So dang cool to see Jonah and Zip again,” Huo wrote on Twitter. “Lara’s world is all coming together!”

In addition to the Netflix anime, a new live-action movie starring Alicia Vikander is in the works as a sequel to the 2018 film. Lovecraft Country’s Misha Green is writing and directing.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series. As for the video game franchise, no new games have been announced, but Square Enix just recently confirmed that two Tomb Raider games are coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022.
