What To Do With Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 – ISK Mogul Adventures

Baldur’s Gate 3 is here, bringing with it as mountain of excited TTRPG fans to PC gaming, all of whom are eager to get to smashing skulls. But don’t be fooled, the combat isn’t easy. Sure, the game can weight things in your favor with mechanics like Karmic Dice, but there’s things you’re supposed to be doing to buff your team. Players are supposed to be hunting down healing items, spell scrolls and other useful stuff to buff their team during combat. The goal is to make use of various items to powerup your team at any opportunity. These dice rolls can be unforgiving, and one wants a TPK.

One thing that Larian is doing is adding class and character-specific buffs to the game. Players are encouraged to seek these items out and use them to increase the combat prowess of their teams. There’s a lot of these kinds of items in the game, and this guide will cover just one: Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3. Keep reading to learn more.

How do Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 Work?

There are many different items in the game that can be used to gain buffs and other class features for certain characters. If you want the most optimal party composition, you will need to hunt down items like this in your travels and use the buffs they give you. Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 are a Barbarian-focused item, and useful for a very powerful damage buff that’s great early in the game. So you might be wondering why you need these things for your party, that’s an easy question to answer.

The primary character that you can use Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Karlach, the tiefling Barbarian. She can be found fairly early on in the game. When she uses a Soul Coin, Karlach will get the Infernal Fury buff. This gives Karlach a 1 to 4 bonus of Fire Damage to her weapon attacks; this is while she is Raging, or when her hit points drop below 25%

Karlach is an unlikely party member as she’s a Barbarian from a goblin village. You can find her a short distance from the Emerald Grove, to the west, before you reach the goblin village. That’s on the east side of Risen Road, if you need a more specific location. You need to make sure Wyll is not in the party before interacting with her. Complete her quest to free her from her unfortunate circumstances and recruit her. The Paladins of Tyr are hunting her, and you need to help her out. Once you do, she’ll join up.

As far as Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 go, that’s the only use I found for them so far. Outside of giving them to Karlach as part of her class features, there’s no other method to use them in the game that I’ve seen discussed. Most players will only find a few during their campaign anyway, so it’s a pretty safe bet that this is their intended purpose.
