When does the Overwatch Christmas event start? Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland event has recurred every year since the game’s release all the way back in May 2016. The event always brings plenty of cosmetics tied to Christmas, Hanukkah, and plenty of other holidays that take place around the end of the calendar year. Here’s when it’s likely to start this year.

Blizzard doesn’t typically share its exact plans for when each event in the year will take place. This can make it tricky to nail down precise dates for event starts. All we on the outside have to go on is the company’s past event timings.
Winter Wonderland 2020 began Dec. 15 and continued until Jan. 5. Winter Wonderland 2019 before that ran from Dec. 10 to Jan. 2. In 2018, Winter Wonderland started Dec. 11 and continued through Jan. 2. Based on these trends, we can expect the event to start at least one week into December, and run through the first few days of the new year.
This year’s iteration will likely bring a few Legendary skins for various members of the cast, a few more Epic skins, and a handful other cosmetics in addition to reviving classic Winter Wonderland game modes such as Mei’s Yeti Hunt or Snowball Fight.
