The New York Mets have acquired reliever Mychael Givens from the Chicago Cubs according to Andy Martino.
Mets get Givens
— Andy Martino (@martinonyc) August 2, 2022
Givens, 32, has played eight seasons with the Orioles, Rockies, Reds and Cubs. He has a 3.34 ERA for his career. This season, he has posted a 2.66 ERA for the Cubs in 40 appearances.
The Mets are getting more help for their bullpen, which ranks eighth in the league in ERA. At 65-37, New York is in first place in the NL East and the acquisition of Givens will help them on their quest for a World Series title.
There was no reported return for Givens, but the Cubs have been unloading many of their players, as they aren’t in contention this season.
