32 players and staff from eight different teams in the VCS Spring Split have been suspended due to the ongoing investigations.

It has been revealed that Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) have suspended 32 players and staff from eight different teams in its Spring Split due to an ongoing investigation regarding potential match-fixing. This was first brought to light two weeks ago when the VCS Spring Split was put on hold indefinitely amidst a competitive integrity scandal. Since then, it has gone from bad to worse for Vietnam.

The update first came about from what appears to be the official Facebook page for the VCS in which it provided updates in regard to the current match-fixing situation. However, it’s worth noting in the official announcement that these 32 players and staff are only temporarily suspended from all competitive matches as the investigation is currently ongoing. However, the VCS Spring Split will still carry on like normal from the playoffs, which will start on April 3rd.

The top-four teams currently in the VCS Spring Split standings after the seventh week of matches will head to the double-elimination playoff bracket. As for the top-four teams that will be moving on, it will be Team Secret, GAM Esports, Team Whales, and Viking Esports. As Secret is the number one seed, they will have their pick on their first-round opponents, mainly between either Whales or Viking. The opening series for all four teams will be a best-of-three series but every match after that will be a best-of-five.

Given that these four teams have been indirectly implicated as a result of the match-fixing investigation, they will be given time to add new players to field a starting five-man roster for the playoffs. The winner of this year’s VCS Spring Split grand finals will book a direct spot to the Mid-Season Invitational in Chengdu, China later in May this year. More of the drama related to the VCS can be found on this detailed Reddit post.
