Biggest AnimeJapan 2024 announcements: My Hero Academia, Oshi no Ko and more | GosuGamers

We’re recapping the biggest trailers and announcements you might have missed from AnimeJapan 2024.

AnimeJapan 2024 has come and gone, leaving fans with a bevvy of exciting announcements and trailers for upcoming anime projects arriving later this year. Among other things, we got new looks at My Hero Academia Season 7 and Oshi no Ko Season 2, along with new anime announcements like a Baki Hanma x Kengan Ashura crossover movie. 

Here are the biggest announcements from AnimeJapan 2024:

Baki Hanma x Kengan Ashura

Netflix announced an all-new crossover movie that brings the worlds of Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura together. The movie launches on the streaming service on June 7. 

My Hero Academia Season 7

My Hero Academia unveiled a new look at its upcoming seventh season, animated once again by Studio Bones and premiering on May 4. The trailer also gives fans a sneak peek at this season’s opening song, TK by Ling Tosite Sigure, and characters from the manga’s Star and Stripe arc which this season adapts. A fourth movie in the franchise called You’re Next is also in the works, set to hit theatres this summer in Japan. 

Oshi no Ko Season 2

Oshi no Ko Season 2 showed off a new promotional image for Season 2, seen in the video above, and a release window: July 2024.

Blue Box

We got a new trailer for the sports-romance anime Blue Box, set to premiere this October. 

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Cour 2

The second half of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 premieres on April 8, which sees Rudy grow closer to his childhood friend Sylphie.

Beastars Final Season

Beastars finally returns for one last season, set in a world where carnivores and herbivores coexist. This season airs in two parts, the first of which debuts later this year. 

Grimm Variations

This anime has a very different take on Grimms’ Fairy Tales. Brothers Jacob and Wilhelm once collected fairy tales from all around the world and put them in a book, but their much younger sister sees these stories very differently than her brothers. CLAMP provides character concepts while Wit Studio animates. 

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

Doga Kobo’s latest anime adaptation is a romantic comedy about a girl who masks her feelings in Russian, and a boy who understands Russian unbeknownst to her. The series premieres this July. 

Sound! Euphonium

Kyoto Animation’s anime centered on a concert band will return for a third season on April 7, and we got a new trailer for it during AnimeJapan. 

Blue Archive

The gacha-RPG Blue Archive is getting an anime adaptation on April 7. 

Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf

The classic anime Spice and Wolf is getting a two-hour remake, once again following the travelling merchant Lawrence and his companion Holo, a wolf-deity. The series premieres on April 2. 

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Season 3

The isekai anime Re:Zero finally returns after a long three years this October, with White Fox returning to animate Season 3.

365 Days to the Wedding

We’re getting another rom-com anime this year, this time centered on two introverted co-workers who make a desperate attempt to avoid a workplace transfer… by marrying each other. It’s all pretend, of course – until it isn’t. 

The Apothecary Diaries Season 2

The hit anime adaptation of The Apothecary Diaries will return for a second season in 2025.
