Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Originally making its debut back in the 90s, Klonoa will make his return this month with Monkey Craft and Bandai Namco’s Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series.

Included in this collection are Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. These two side-scrolling platformers have the hero Klonoa use his Wind Ring to grab and throw enemies. Graphics have been revamped, while Klonoa’s world and gameplay have been preserved. An adjustable difficulty level has also been included.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 8, 2022.

Live A Live

Previously a Super Famicom exclusive in Japan, the world of Square Enix’s Live A Live will be revamped this month.

This JRPG is unique, in that it has seven different stories that feature seven different protagonists, time periods, and gameplay styles. Turn-based gameplay is the name of the game, with players fighting enemies on a 7×7 grid. For those who played the fan translation back in the day, this remake updates the UI and sound effects, all while rebalancing the gameplay.

Live a Live will come out for the Nintendo Switch on July 22, 2022.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3

What lies beyond the path toward hope? Inti Creates hopes to answer that question with the release of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 this month.

The high speed 2D action gameplay the mainline series is known for will make its return in all its glory. Gunvolt will make their return in this title alongside Kirin, with players able to switch between the two on the fly. Familiar faces will also make their return in this title through “Image Pulses,” which features more than 150 characters that can be used in combat.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 will come out for the Nintendo Switch on July 28, 2022.

Digimon Survive

Hyde, Witchcraft, and Bandai Namco are collaborating together to create an all-new Digimon adventure with the release of Digimon Survive.

In this JRPG, Takuma Momozuka, Minoru Hinata, Aoi Shibuya, and the rest of their classmates find themselves in another world after traveling to a local temple to investigate the legend of the “Beast Gods.” There’s reason to come back to this title as well; player choices influence the direction of the story, complete with different paths, different digivolutions, and multiple endings.

Digimon Survive will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC worldwide on July 29, 2022.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Monolith Soft and Nintendo are continuing the Xeno series with the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this month.

This JRPG features a large, open world for players to explore.Seven party members will be able to participate in battles at once, and specific pairs of party members (such as Noah and Mio) can make use of the new “Interlink system” to combine into an Ouroboros. True to the series, Yasunori Mitsuda, Manami Kiyota, ACE (Tomori Kudo and Hiroyo “CHiCO” Yamanaka), and Kenji Hiramatsu will return for its soundtrack.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will come out for the Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022.
