Aliens: Fireteam Elite is coming to Xbox Game Pass with free Season 2 update on 14th December

Co-op shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite is coming to Xbox Game Pass on 14th December, day and date with the release of the Season 2 update that will be available for all players across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam.

The new season, dubbed Point Defense, will feature the following free new content:

  • New Game Mode: Point Defense
  • New Feature: Lifetime Stats
  • New weapons (a Rifle, Hand Gun, CQW, and Heavy Weapon), attachments, and cosmetics added to the game as Point Defense rewards or at the in-game store
  • New challenge cards

Aliens: Fireteam Elite Season 2 Free Update

The Point Defense mode is a faster alternative to Horde Mode, challenging you to hold, protect and repair three strategic points on a map from multiple attack waves of xenomorphs. You’ll be able to buy temporary consumables with Fabrication Points you earn during the mode to help you survive, and there’s 20 new rewards available to earn by completing the mode at various difficulty levels.

Alongside the free content is the Nostromo Salvage Pack, a premium kit that’s part of the Endeavor Pass DLC Pack that is running through seasons 1-4 of the game. This includes Nostromo-themed class kits, eight weapon colours, four decals, four head accessories, four emotes and more.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is going to be another strong addition to Xbox Game Pass in December. Microsoft rounded out November this week by adding Evil Genius 2: World Domination, Generation Zero, Mind Scanners and The Hunter: Call of the Wild to the subscription service, and they have big plans for the final month of the year. There’s the release of Halo Infinite’s campaign on 8th December, while Alien: Fireteam Elite will be joining Among Us on 14th December as well as Xbox console exclusive The Gunk on 16th December. Plenty to keep you occupied in the weeks leading up to Christmas, I’m sure you’ll agree!

Launching back in August, Aliens: Fireteam Elite was a decent new stab at adapting the Alien franchise into video game form. While far from perfect, Nic awarded it a decent 7/10 score in our review. He concluded:

“Aliens: Fireteam Elite has a lack of mission variety, technical issues, bad matchmaking, and a repetitive structure. All of that said, it’s still a fun time. I’m off to play some more right now.”
