PGL Wallachia Season 1 team line-up is now complete with six regional winners claiming a spot at the upcoming $1,000,000 tournament.

With the Dota Pro Circuit discontinued at the beginning of 2024, PGL announced a three year plan that includes eight Dota 2 tournaments, each with one million dollars on the line to be held across 2024, 2025 and 2026.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 is the first event from the three-year plan and it’s set to unfold in Bucharest, Romania at the PGL Studios from May 10 to 19th with 16 teams from across the world fighting for the championship title.

A total of 10 teams received direct invites to this inaugural event based on their performances early in the year at various other tournaments. Regional qualifier winners filled the remaining six slots. However, one noticeable change in regional representation was made by the absence of a designated bracket for the MENA region, forcing all the Middle East teams to compete in the Western Europe qualifiers.  Thus the likes of PSG.Quest and Nigma Galaxy fell off early in the regional battle, the latter stopping in the open qualifier brackets.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 dates and format

PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified “Swiss System” group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.

At the end of the group play, the top eight teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs stage will be played in a double elimination bracket, best-of-three series with the grand finals being a best-of-five battle for the title.
