Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade Beta Kicks Off Soon – Droid Gamers

The Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade beta test kicks off this August. Invitations are going out right now, concluding before the end of July, and the closed beta kicks off on August 3rd.

Codename Jade takes us to ancient China, and wears this inspiration on its sleeve. The trailer starts with a rendition of the iconic Terracotta Army, the rows of soldier statues created to guard the grave of the first emperor of China, Quin Shi Huang.

A Mobile Assassin’s Creed, A Real One This Time

It’s pretty unusual for an Assassin’s Creed game, in that Codename Jade is coming exclusively to mobile platforms. Android, and, regrettably, iOS.

There was, of course, the 2018 release Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, though it feels like giving the game a bit too much credit to call it an ‘Assassin’s Creed Game’. It was a casual strategy RPG with dice rolls and an Assassin’s Creed coat of paint. Let’s be real.

Ubisoft and Level Infinite have been fairly cagey about Codename Jade’s gameplay, with the latest trailer coming with a heap of caveats. It stresses that the game is still in development and that the footage isn’t necessarily representative of the final product.

We Like What We See

If what we get is anything like the gameplay we see in the trailer, then Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade is far more of a genuine mobile AC title.

The gameplay we do see snippets of has everything you’d expect in a game from the mainline series. It sees the new assassin scaling towers, firing a bow, leaping down onto an unsuspecting target, and duking it out with a variety of different weapons.
