Banfield will be playing host to San Lorenzo at the Estadio Florencio Sola on Sunday in round eight of the Argentine Primera Division.
The hosts head into the contest fresh off the back of securing a spot in the round of 16 of the Copa Argentina and will look to keep the cause rolling.
Javier Sanguinetti’s side continued their charge to the Copa Argentina title as they claimed a 2-1 home victory over Union in the round of 32 last Wednesday.
Mauro Luna Diale and Jesus scored for either side to go into the interval all square, but Emanuel Coronel found the net shortly before the hour mark to send the hosts throught to the last 16.
Banfield now turn their attention to the Primera Division, where they were seen off in their most recent match on July 10 through a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Union.
El Taladro were previously on a five-game unbeaten run in the league, picking up three wins and two draws while scoring seven goals and conceding twice in that period.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo returned to winning ways last time out when they came from behind to defeat Boca Juniors 2-1 at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain.
Ruben Dario Insua’s side were trailing to a Marcos Rojo’s opener in the 28th minute, but Augustin Giay scored 10 minutes later to restore parity before Adam Bareiro completed the turnaround in the 54th minute.
San Lorenzo had previously suffered their first league defeat of the campaign on July 3 when they lost 2-1 to Barracas Central at the Estadio Islas Malvinas.
While they have been solid in attack, scoring 10 goals so far, San Lorenzo have struggled to get going at the opposite end of the pitch, where they have conceded eight times and managed two clean sheets.
