The World Darts Championship received a lot of attention over the recent holiday period, attracting a lot of new viewers. Flutter Entertainment-owned Paddy Power led the sponsorship for the successful event that concluded on Wednesday.

BetMGM is now getting in on the action, announcing on Thursday that it will be the new brand behind Premier League Darts. It has entered an agreement with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) to cover this year’s action.

The BetMGM Premier League will begin in February and last until May, covering 17 nights of live action mostly around the UK. Just eight players will initially battle it out for the £1m ($1.3m) prize pool, with the competition eventually narrowing to just four players.

It will be the 20th season of Premier League Darts and BetMGM UK Director Sam Behar spoke about the excitement of partnering with the PDC, saying that he is looking forward to “an action-packed 2024.”

Darts is a popular game in the UK, a market in which BetMGM launched for the first time in August. The gambling operator is co-owned by Ladbrokes parent company Entain and US casino giant MGM Resorts International.
