Can You Get Refunds for Apex Legends Mobile?

Respawn have announced their plans to sunset Apex Legends Mobile. So what does that mean for player purchases, and can you get a refund?

On Jan. 31, Respawn announced in a statement that they will be ending service for Apex Legends Mobile on May 1, 2023. The news comes less than a year after the roll out of the game back in May 17, 2022. “Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence,” the statement read.

“It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game.”

The decision will likely come as a dissappointment to many Apex fans, particularly those who have invested time and money into the game. The obvious question when a live service game announces its end is whether or not players can claim some sort of refund.

Following the announcement, EA and Respawn put together an FAQ for the sunsetting of Apex Legends Mobile. In the blog, Respawn revealed that they “will not be providing refunds for real money purchases, per the terms of the EA User Agreement.”

Existing in-game currency will still be available up until the end of service on May 1 which can be spent on in-game content. After the end date, the game will be unavailable to play and currency likely wiped.

The FAQs state that for any purchases made via a third-party, e.g. from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store players should direct their refund requests to the respective platforms.

Respawn have yet to reveal whether mobile-exclusive characters Fade and Rhapsody will appear in the Apex Legends main game.
