Cancelled PS2 Game Daredevil: The Man Without Fear Surfaces Online

It’s not every day that you see an unreleased PS2 game emerge as playable almost two decades later, but that’s precisely the case with 2004’s Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. The Hidden Palace, which is a community dedicated to the preservation of rare and retro games, have published a playable prototype on PC.

A third-person beat ’em up based on the Frank Miller comic of the same name, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, was in development for PS2 at 5,000 Ft Studios but ultimately cancelled due to Marvel’s refusal to approve the game. Allegedly, recommendations Sony made steered the project too far from the original concept the developer had sold the licensor on.

Fast forward many years, and one of the original developers anonymously submits a prototype to The Hidden Palace. One heroic member of the community, known only by the handle “SolidSnake11”, took it upon themselves to tidy things up and get the game into a playable state. It’s buggy, the audio sounds all messed up, and it might not have set the world on fire even back in 2004, but it’s pretty cool to see this relatively unknown Daredevil game emerge from the dustbin of history.
