Cody Bellinger Signs 1-Year Deal with Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are adding Cody Bellinger to their roster. Bellinger is reportedly signing a one-year, $17.5 million deal with the Cubs as a free agent. This will be Bellinger’s second team since his MLB debut back in 2017.

ESPN tweeted about the news via their official account on Tuesday night.

Since making his debut in 2017, Bellinger has racked up many accolades. He was named the National League MVP in 2019, was the NLCS MVP in 2018, won Rookie of the Year and has a cycle, Silver Slugger and Gold Glove under his belt. He also won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers.

Last season, Bellinger played in 144 games, batting .210 in 550 plate appearances. Out of his 106 hits, 19 were home runs and he collected 68 RBI. His batting average has taken a dip since winning NL MVP, but he still remains a huge grab for the Cubs, who have been reeling as of late.
