There is no arguing that things like Dust 2 and Inferno are more popular than most other maps because they have been a part of the CS universe for many years. However, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any other interesting maps.

One of the newest options that were added to the competitive CS:GO scene is a map called Ancient. It is definitely the most unique-looking option out there, but since many people haven’t had the chance to play it, they don’t know what to expect. Overview

Ancient has been a part of CS:GO for some time now. However, the map was not that popular because it was not a part of the competitive map pool. With that being said, Valve decided to add it and remove Train, which quickly made it one of the most popular CS:GO maps in the game.

People who don’t have a lot of experience with this CS:GO map may think that it provides ton`s of cover. This is true up to a point because some parts will allow you to hide. However, if we compare the two bomb sites with what’s available on other maps, you will see that this is not the case.

Many people want to know the answer to the CSGO Ancient CT or T-sided question, and to be honest, the map feels more favorable for Ts. It seems like they have more angles to use and can easily take control of either bombsite.

Weapon usage

Like every other map in CS:GO, Ancient will let you use all sorts of weapons while playing. However, some things won’t work as well here as in other maps, which is one of the things that make it stand out. 

Obviously, one of the first things you need to learn is the CS GO Ancient smokes and how to make the most of them. This map has loads of choke points that you can easily take control of simply by throwing a smoke. If we put aside the utilities, Ancient is a map where you can use some good weapons for close-range combat. Those things rarely get the chance to shine, but since this map is small, you can put them to the test. For example, shotguns can be extremely effective as a CT, especially if you decide to play aggressively.

Important things to keep in mind

Aside from using the proper weapons, one of the things you have to know is the CSGO Ancient callouts. In other words, you need to know what to say to your teammates when you start playing. The bad news is that you will come across CS:GO players who have never played on this map before, so even if you say something, they may not always understand you.

Speaking of callouts, one of the most important places on the map is mid, and both sides can contest it. Fortunately, there is a handy smoke you can throw from CT spawn that will give you a huge advantage. However, failing to use this means you have to rely on good spawns because the Ts might be able to rush it before you get a good position.

Another vital thing to remember while playing CS GO Ancient is that defending the B site is not as easy as it seems. If you look closely at the map, you will see that your opponents can rush you from multiple angles. On top of that, they can always throw flashes and catch you off guard, so you need to be careful.

Controlling the A-site

Since B is arguably the harder bomb to keep control of, the CT team usually focuses most of its efforts on A and goes to the other one when needed. One of the most important things about the CS GO Ancient collection in A is to remain in control of the site at all costs.

In most cases, it is a good idea to have one person short because he will be able to help you when needed. Since this chokepoint is small, the person who stays there can use some interesting weapons, including shotguns and pistols.

Speaking of the A-site, we must mention that this is one of the best places for an AWPer. This sport allows the CT’s AWPer to cover the entire site, including main. The distance is pretty long, so you probably won’t be able to get a kill on him.

It is definitely not as easy to learn as Dust 2 because this map offers loads of angles. However, once you understand everything, you will know what to expect.
