Got a next-gen console? Then Dauntless is going to look a lot prettier, as of this Thursday.
If you’ve never played Dauntless then check out our review. It’s a Monster Hunter-style free-to-play action RPG which, it might surprise you to learn, is actually good. Even better, it “…never makes you feel like you’re missing out if you don’t spend any money.” A F2P game that doesn’t punish you for not spending money? What madness is this?
And now Dauntless is set to get a next-gen update which should give it a graphical boost, as well as making it run a little smoother. It’ll also add support for the PlayStation 5’s adaptive triggers, if you’ve been lucky enough to nab one of Sony’s white monoliths.

On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game will target 4K resolution running at 60FPS, whereas on the Xbox Series X it’ll still target 60FPS but at a 1440p resolution. Hang on.. target? Yes, that means that you should, more often than not, see Dauntless running at 60FPS but there’s no cast iron guarantee.
On top of that, the update will add cross-platform play so you can troll people regardless of the system they’re on and you should see improved load times as well. The update is set to land this Thursday December 2nd, so get your monster-murdering hammers ready.
