DNF Duel Release, Characters, and Features

Arc System Works, and Eighting’s newest fighting game DNF Duel released, and fighting game fans can experience the Dungeon Fighter universe. DNF Duel was released for PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam for $49.99. Here is a list of the DNF Duel Release Characters.

The 2.5D fighter features 1v1 battles from 16 playable characters from the original Dungeon Fighter Online. The Korean beat’em up MMORPG also features 16 playable classes. However, the DNF Roster consists of a handful of advanced subclasses from their original class.

The playable characters included in the launch of DNF Duel are:

  1. Berserker
  2. Crusader
  3. Grappler
  4. Kunoichi
  5. Enchantress
  6. Vanguard
  7. Troubleshooter
  8. Swift Master
  9. Ghostblade
  10. Hitman
  11. Dragon Knight
  12. Inquisitor
  13. Launcher
  14. Ranger
  15. Lost Warrior
  16. Striker

Each character provides unique play styles reminiscent of the source material but as well adapted to match other fighting games. Certain characters are obvious such as Grappler, being the same archetype as his namesake.

Game Modes and Features

The game modes featured in DNF Duel are standard for most fighting games. Game modes included are a story mode, each character has their individual story mode going through their backstories. An arcade mode, going through 8 stages facing off against Lost Warrior at the final stage. Finally a survival mode, with the goal to survive consecutive battles with health that slightly recovers with each battle.

Of course, with any fighting game, the main focus is on the fights against other players. While people can enjoy fights against the computer; against real opponents is the main appeal. DNF Duel features player matches, ranked matches, and leaderboards to showcase top players online.

Other features included are a tutorial for new players that’ll teach the basic mechanics and gameplay. Plus the training mode, to practice combos for each character. While all common modes for fighting games, Arc System Works tutorials and training mode tools are usually well made to teach new players the ropes.

In terms of the voice languages available are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. There are no English options available, however, the game has complete English text and translation outside battles.

Is It Worth The Price?

For the price of $49.99, the game is fully featured in single-player and multiplayer options. The content provided is very similar to other titles in the Arc System Works catalog. Although, the main difference between DNF Duel and other Arc System Work fighting games is how it handles story mode.

DNF Duel’s story mode features fights alongside its visual novel-style cutscenes. Guilty Gear XRD and Guilty Gear -Strive- featured story modes, have zero interaction and are a long string of cutscenes, and are much more like a movie. While Blazblue story modes are like complete visual novels with player choices that lead to different endings.

While the game doesn’t feature crossplay between consoles and PC, the title is seemingly doing well on both respective platforms where there are no issues to find matches in the initial launch.
