Dota 2: EEU Tour 3 Division I and Division II Overview – Week 4

Eastern Europe is one of the most interesting regions in this DPC so far because a couple of teams are performing better than expected. Aside from Outsiders and Team Spirit, Natus Vincere are doing great and it seems like they will become one of the teams that will qualify for the Major.

We are slowly ending Tour 3, which is why this week’s games were significant. There were a couple of notable matches in Division I and Division II, so let’s check them out.

Division I

Pari vs RE

Despite the fact that we did, this series didn’t seem that important on paper, Pari and RE played a great match. Each game was fun and offered something special, so let’s go through everything.

Game 1

The fact that RE got Medusa in game one got us to think that the team would focus on the late game. This was true up to a point, but many big mistakes from Pari allowed the team to win in just 25 minutes.

Following the horrible laning stage, Gleb “depressed kid” Zyryanov and the rest tried to do everything they could to stop Medusa from farming. However, the hero was too strong, even at this stage. Hence, the team used the GG call and focused on game 2.

Game 2

The second match was pretty long because we had the chance to watch PL vs Terroblade, This clash is always fun and unpredictable, but PL is usually victorious. Needless to say, this happened in this match because RE failed to use their TB while it was ahead.

The decisive team fight took place 35 minutes after the game. Despite using a 5-man smoke, Rune Eaters Esports failed to make the most of it and died. This allowed their opponents to equalize the series.

Game 3

Following the battle between PL and TB, the third match of the series allowed us to see TB against Phantom Assassin. Although we expected Rune Eaters to win, the team lost the match, despite having a comfortable lead.

This loss was painful because RE occupies the last spot in Divison I. Consequently, the team will most likely drop to Divison II.

Team Spirit vs One Move

The current TI champion continues to be one of the most dominant teams in CIS and the main favorite for one of the slots for the Major. After having pretty much no problems against everyone so far, TS had another challenge. The team had to go up against One Move, a team that has all the chances to qualify for the Major. 

Game 1

Although OM needed to win this match to save their chances of qualifying, this did not happen. The first game between the two started well for OM because the team had Alchemist and CK. However, TI champions know precisely how to counter those heroes. Hence, the team used Viper, Tiny, and Juggernaut.

The hyper-aggressive lineup has off because TS started pressuring their opponents right away. The team knew it had to go up against the clock and utilized their draft. In the end, this was enough to win the first map.

Game 2

After losing a game that One Move should have won, the team did not perform well in game 2. Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk and the rest won the match in just 26 minutes. Monkey King and Beastmaster were too strong for OM, as the team had no chance of winning a fight early on.

Despite having NS and Tiny, OM lost this match and gave Team Spirit yet another victory. This means that TI 10 champions are in the lead and almost certainly secured a spot at the Major.

Natus Vincere vs MG

It is safe to say that Natus Vincere is one of the biggest surprises of this year’s DPC. Although it had to go up against some of the best teams in the world, 

Georgii “swedenstrong” Zainalabidov and the rest stood their ground and won most of their matches. 

The team’s latest victory was against Mind Games, a team that did not look that scary on paper. However, Na’Vi had to show their prowess again because this match turned into a three-game thriller. 

Despite losing the first game. TI 1 champions made a comeback and won the next two games. Both were fun and lasted for around 40 minutes. During that time, we saw countless smoke ganks and well-executed teamfights. In the end. Na’Vi’s class prevailed, and the team won a critical series.

Division II

Nemiga vs HR

Like any other region, the battle in Division II is fierce because there are a couple of big teams that try to secure a slot for Division I. Eastern Europe is not an exception. One of the top-tier clashes this week put together Nemiga and HellRaisers, the two leading names in the division.

As expected, their clash was entertaining and full of surprises. Nemiga hasn’t lost a single match so far, so people considered them to be the favorites. However, they were not powerful enough to overcome their opponents and lost the match.

Game 1

HR had the chance to roll out their classic Morphling in the first game of the hero, used to its full potential. Nemiga tried to counter the late-game monster by getting more suitable heroes for the early and mid-game. Even though they had a good start, this was not enough to win them the game.

HR knew what to do to provide their Morph with enough space, and in the end, the hero became too strong for his opponents.

Game 2

After losing game one, Nemiga wanted to bounce back in the series because they haven’t lost a single match so far. As a result, Vitaly “so bad” Oshmankevich and the rest decided to use Huskar, a hero that they only focus on when things get tricky.

Sadly, even Huskar was not enough for Nemiga to win against their opponents. Ursa, Puck and Beastmaster were strong enough to prevent Huskar from utilizing his powers and allowed HR to win the game. This victory will most likely help the team secure one of the slots for Division I.
