Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero had its theatrical release in the US and several other regions. The new anime movie shifted its focus from Goku and Vegeta to Gohan and Piccolo, and honestly, this decision worked quite well for the creators. On top of that, the film brings an old villain back into the spotlight to revive a legendary Dragon Ball Z rivalry.

WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super Super Hero.

Besides Gohan’s Beast Form, the film features a new transformation of Cell — Cell Max — making fans even more interested in the new story. But, everyone has one major question in their minds – How strong is Cell Max? Well, here’s your answer.

Cell Max is the latest transformation of Cell, so he’s obviously far stronger than he was in Dragon Ball Z. The previous versions of Cell include Present Cell, Future Cell, New Cell, Xeno Cell, and Cells. However, Dr. Hedo is the genius mind behind the creation of Cell’s new form, and he was also the one who created Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. The only motive behind making Cell more powerful was strengthening the Red Ribbon Army.

The previous versions of Cell used to be powerful too, but they also had great intelligence. Compared to them, Cell Max is completely mindless and only believes in destruction and eliminating his enemies. His berserk nature is what makes him even more challenging for his opponents. Also, despite being a mindless beast, Cell Max’s fighting skills are pretty calculated, as seen in the movie.

Cell’s Latest Form Is Incomplete

As stated earlier, Cell Max is the most powerful Cell form ever, but to what extent his new form exceeds other characters from the series? Well, Cell Max had the power to become one of the strongest villains of the Dragon Ball universe. But there’s a catch to why he misses on getting that title. In the act of desperation, Cell Max was activated before being completed. Toriyama himself confirmed that if Cell Max had been completed as per the plans, he would become a being that even Broly couldn’t defeat. But, as he doesn’t complete his Cell Max form, he stays beatable even after becoming an uncontrollable monster.

Still, even in his incomplete form, Cell Max is potent enough to fight and overpower Super Saiyan Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Android 18, Krillin, Potential Unleashed Picollo, and Gamma 1 and 2 at the same time. Despite taking some serious attacks like Gamma 2’s self-destruction, he handled everyone at once. However, Gohan’s Beast form was far too much for Cell Max to handle. After Gohan’s transformation, Cell Max got defeated in no time. But, it’s worth noting that Gohan’s Beast form is considered the finest of all the transformations we have seen in Dragon Ball so far.
