Evil Geniuses end Team Aster’s Lima Major run

China is left with no team fighting for the first major of the year title after Evil Geniuses eliminate Team Aster in the top 8.

Day 4 in the Lima Major playoffs is bringing another full round of elimination matches on the Arena 1 stage and the atmosphere was electrifying right from the first game of the day. Hometown heroes, Evil Geniuses were up against Team Aster, the last Chinese team left in the tournament.

Game one brought a carry Marci for EG’s Crhistian “Pakazs” Casanova and push power with a Beastmaster and Death Prophet. The snowball concept was easily put into practice by the SA representative, who had to corner Aster in their half of the map fast and not allow a late game scenario where the Chinese team could have turned things around with their carry Terrorblade.

However, in the second game, EG couldn’t replicate the same flawless execution. In fact, it was the opposite. After holding the lead for 40 minutes, EG got outmaneuvered and outplayed in Roshan fight that brought Aster back into the game and pushed the crowd favourites into a decisive game three.

Aster were sent home by a perfectly played lane by Adrián “Wisper” Dobles on Batrider and Farith “Matthew” Huamancaj on Clockwerk that shut down Du “Monet” Peng’s carry Sniper and offered pretty much a free path to victory for their team in the final game of the series.

EG will return to the arena later today for another elimination battle. The last series of the day will bring an interesting “new EG vs old EG” duel with tournament lives on the line, as Shopify Rebellion are next opponent for Evil Geniuses.
