FIFA 23 Fantasy FUT Leaks, Predictions & Release Date

The Showdown Series promo may be the current event in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, but we’re looking ahead to the next event, which is leaked to bring more upgradeable cards with it!

Fantasy FUT is said to be returning, which will see boosts given to selected players depending on their real-life performances.

FUT Birthday Release Date

There isn’t any official confirmation yet, but Fantasy FUT is leaked to take over from the Showdown Series on Friday, 3 March at the usual time of 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.

It is also said to be lasting for two weeks, so we will see Team 1 released initially, before Team 2 follows on Friday, 10 March, staying in packs for another seven days, then FUT Birthday should take over on Friday, 17 March!

Fantasy FUT

Fantasy FUT was first seen in Ultimate Team last year, replacing the What If? event.

It brings more live cards to the game, which can get upgraded depending on real-life performances from that player and their team.

Last year, Fantasy FUT players received an initial upgrade at the campaign launch and then had the possibility for a further three upgrades.

The selected cards gained a +1 upgrade when:

• The player made three appearances in their next five domestic league games

• The player made an appearance in a win during one of their next five domestic league games
• Attackers/midfielders scored a goal or registered an assist in the next five domestic league games
• Defenders/goalkeepers kept a clean sheet in the next five domestic league games

We expect a similar system – if not the exact same – will be employed in FUT 23, although instead of a +1 OVR upgrade EA could use their new in-form upgrade system, so any lower-rated cards can gain a higher boost.

Predictions

There aren’t really any restrictions as to who could feature in the Fantasy FUT promo, but it makes sense for EA to select players who are likely to be able to gain the upgrades.

With that in mind, here are some names we would love to see pick up a card:

So far we haven’t seen any other leaks for Fantasy FUT other than the promo itself being revealed.
