A rogue AI comes to the fore in Atomic Heart’s DLC

When it comes to the heavy metal pumpin’, adrenaline-boosting, bombastic action of Atomic Heart, we simply cannot get enough. So much so that we gave it a 4/5 review score when it released back in February of this year. It goes without saying that we’ve been looking forward to returning to the 1950s in subsequent DLCs. That day has come and the first DLC for Atomic Hearts – Annihilation Instinct – is here!

AI Gone Bad

If the base game of Atomic Heart – in which you are a survivor of a robot apocalypse, hell-bent on destroying your machine overlords – is summed up as ‘robots gone bad’, then Annihilation Instinct is similar. Set after the events of the base game, an AI takes centre stage within the all-new Mendeleev Complex. Oh, and the swamps that surround it. What this means for you is that you’ll be fighting against brand-new swarms of robots, tough bosses, and even shape-shifting foes to ensure survival.

The new ranged Secateur weapon, as well as the melee-focused Klusha, add to your arsenal of post-war, sci-fi killtoys, and a new ability is thrown your way also. The Techno-Stasis allows you to warp time to your will, opening up a whole new dimension of combat.

New Game+ Mode and Key Features

Passionate players will also have noticed the inclusion of a New Game+ mode to the game. That has arrived to celebrate the start of the DLC cycle.

This mode will challenge even the toughest of Atomic Heart masters. With new aura attacks and specific resistances buffing up your enemies. Identify their new attacks by the coloured aura, and make use of all previously unlocked weapons and skills to take them down!

  • Visit the Mendeleev Complex and its surrounding swamps, a new area of Atomic Heart’s twisted, dystopian world
  • Fight against new shape-shifting types of machines and a brand-new boss
  • Unlock two new weapons: the Secateur – a ranged weapon with 2 firing modes – and the Klusha – a melee weapon that can slash and pierce
  • Enhance your polymeric glove with the new Technostasis ability, allowing you to manipulate time itself!

Available Now!

Atomic Heart – Annihilation Instinct is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. To pick up a copy on Xbox, you can do so via the Xbox Store for £7.99.

Annihilation Instinct will also come free of charge with those with the Atomic Pass for the game. That comes in at £32.99 separately, or as part of the Gold Edition or Premium Edition of this title.
