Fortnite Weapons Tier List - Best New Chapter 5 Weapons

Fortnite Weapons Tier List – Best New Chapter 5 Weapons

The Fortnite Chapter 5 patch was big enough to feel like a brand new game. Now for Chapter 5 Season 2, we’ve seen more big changes. On the surface, every weapon has been replaced with a new name and model along with weird new myth-based weapons. It’s made for a complicated Fortnite weapons tier list.

The best Fortnite Chapter 5 weapons aren’t just stuff you can find on the ground anymore. Now we’ve got mods every gun seems to be altered and changed. At its core though, there are still some which stand out as the best Fortnite Chapter 5 weapons.

There’s still the very powerful sniper, but new additions are interesting. The Season 2 guns are some of the best so far.

The Shotgun added has changed up the meta quite a bit. Add that to other more powerful additions to fix underpowered weapon categories last season, and we’ve got quite an interesting mix.

This is how it all shakes out for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 and what the best items are.

Best Fortnite Weapons – Fortnite Chapter 5 Weapons Tier list

A little into the new season, we’ve now got a clear idea of what the best Fortnite weapons are. Until a major nerf comes in Fortnite news and patches, the game is going to remain dominated by just a handful of weapons. This is our tier list of the best Fortnite weapons.

S Tier – Fortnite Weapons Tier List Highlights

Reaper Sniper

Best Fortnite Chapter 5 Weapons

The Reaper Sniper Rifle is still crazy powerful this season. After it completely dominated Chapter 5 Season 1, it’s stuck around. The sniper has been nerfed a little over time. But not enough to really dent it.

This can one-shot, even in Zero Builds. Factor in mods and you have the most unstoppable gun in the Fortnite weapons tier list. This can annihilate enemies and you get more than one shot without reloading. Even with more tuning down in C5 S2, it’s still one of the best Fortnite weapons.

At the moment, the Reaper Sniper is far and away the best thing in the game. With the right Fortnite weapon mods it can be a shotgun, an AR, and a sniper. With one-shot kills, it’s basically the main weapon you need. The Reaper Sniper can do it all.

Gatekeeper Shotgun

Gatekeeper Shotgun - Best Fortnite Weapons

The brand-new shotgun at first glance feels like Epic’s typical “third shotgun”. It’s much more effective than the normal additions though. It’s kind of a best of both worlds situation.

The gun offers the fantastic fire rate you’ll find with the auto. Plus, the more powerful shots you get with the pump. It can one shot players and moves pretty fast.

Once you add in the Fortnite mods still here this season, it gets really special. With five shots this is the best shotgun in the game. It’s as useful for box fights as Zero Builds. One of the best Fortnite Chapter 5 weapons in all seasons so far.

The Gatekeeper Shotgun is well named too, allowing you to gatekeep your lobbies! It’s worth picking up the modded one from the Meowscles Fortnite character location to get those extra shots too.

A Tier – Fortnite Chapter 5 Weapons Tier List

Harbringer SMG

The Harbringer is the new SMG that massively surpasses its previous competition. It’s the most useful SMG in the game right now, especially in the mythic version.

Frenzy Auto Shotgun

The Frenzy is still pretty powerful this season. It fires way too fast and has a crazy headshot multiplier. It won’t be for everyone, but it shreds especially in ZB. It’s gone down in the Fortnite weapons tier list but is still useful.

Warforged Assault Rifle

The new addition fixes most of last season’s AR problems. We’re getting a weapon that can actually fire fast enough to compete. It’s outplayed by the Sniper, but basically everything is. It’s still one of the best Fortnite weapons this season.

Huntress DMR

The new DMR is in a bit of a weird situation. On the one hand it’s way better than past DMRs. It has less bullet drop than ARs, deals tons of damage and is fast enough. With good aim though, the Huntress DMR is great, but it just can’t beat the sniper.

Hammer Pump Shotgun

The Pump has stuck around and still has its great one-shot kills. It’s not great if your aim isn’t great, but for build fights, it might still be the go-to. It’s got increased competition from the Gatekeeper now though so is a bit lower compared to the Best Fortnite weapons.

B Tier – Not Quite the Best Fortnite Chapter 5 Weapons

Zeus Thungerbolt - Fortnite Weapons tier list

  • Ranger Pistol – The new Pistol for Chapter 5 has been a consistently strong performer. The problem with it is that a pistol is pretty much always outplayed. It’s about as good as one can get, but it’s still a pistol.
  • Striker AR – The Striker was the better pick last season, it’s been supplanted by the Warforged. It’s not terrible, there are just better options.
  • Thunderbolt of Zeus – The Thunderbotls are a bizarre item. They’re easy to counter by shooting while someone is frozen in place. However, shooting through builds makes them surprisingly powerful in very particular situations, especially when paired with the blink effect to dodge.
  • Wings of Icarus – The wings let you fly, one of the most exciting items on the surface. In use, they’re a bit annoying. Great for rotation, but it’s far too easy to get sniped out of the sky. It turns you into a large target since the wings have a hitbox. They can’t get much higher in the Fortnite weapons tier list but can’t be beaten for fun.

C Tier Fortnite Chapter 5 Weapons

Fortnite Weapons tier list

  • Thunder Burst SMG – The Thunderbusrst SMG just can’t compete with the Harbringer Useful with some mods but just not right.
  • Nemesis AR – The old Nemesis AR is still here, but it’s problems are pretty major. It’s too slow to compete with other ARs and doesn’t come close to the Sniper or DMR this season.

Those are the best Fortnite Chapter 5 weapons. There are some clear standouts this season like the Sniper and one of the new shotguns. However, there’s still potential if you get creative enough with even lower-ranked items like the Wings and Thunderbolts.
