Front Mission 2 Remake Drops More Mech Action on PS5, PS4 This Month

Publisher Forever Entertainment is following up on last year’s Front Mission 1st: Remake with the very same treatment for its sequel. Front Mission 2: Remake arrives for PS5 and PS4 on 30th April 2024 at a price of $34.99, and you can see it in action in the trailer above.

“Front Mission 2: Remake preserves the mature story, strategic turn-based combat, and Wanzer customization options of the original,” the PS Store listing reveals. “Enjoy the revitalized classic with updated visuals and new features and enhancements!” Upgrades include faster load times, a new “free camera” option, a reworked soundtrack, more language options, and extra customisation settings.

Forever Entertainment has been releasing these Front Mission remakes on a staggered schedule, with the second iteration having already released on Nintendo Switch in October last year. It was met with significant criticism aimed at its poor AI systems, along with localisation issues.

Our sister site Nintendo Life awarded the title a 5/10 rating and said: “As with the first remake, we wanted to like Front Mission 2: Remake more than we did, since there are elements that are good. Even with a host of localisation issues and some obvious tropes, the story has some interesting facets, but the gameplay simply didn’t grip us, with the combat too reliant on random chance to make any amount of strategy work.”

A remake of Front Mission 3 is also in the works. Are you interested in playing the second remake despite the apparent flaws it possesses? Let us know in the comments below.
