The Golden Apple Archipelago is back in Genshin Impact. This region is only available for a limited time, and, much like last year’s event, there will definitely be a few surprises down the line. Here’s our Genshin Impact guide to help you unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago as part of the Summer Fantasia content of version 2.8.

Genshin Impact guide – How to unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago in version 2.8

There are a few requirements before you can unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact:

Complete Archon quest “Chapter II: Prologue – Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves”
Complete Mona’s story quest “Astrolabos Chapter: Act I – Beyond This World’s Stars”

Here are the remaining steps:

Talk to Katheryne in the Mondstadt Adventurer’s Guild.
Meet up with Fischl and Mona in Mondstadt’s plaza.
Talk to Venti, Kazuha, and Xinyan in the tavern. Venti will give you the Dodocommunication Device, a walkie-talkie that lets the Traveler talk to him. It doesn’t seem like this can be used manually, so it’s mostly added fluff for cutscenes.
When you exit Mondstadt’s gates, you’ll see Fischl and Mona once more. Just past the bridge, you’ll notice a Guoba-esque vehicle that will take you to the new zone.

Upon arrival, Fischl, Mona, and Xinyan will stay behind on the initial island. However, Kazuha will ask you to look around and explore.

Head to the marked location to find a strange device. Then, activate your elemental sight and follow the trail. You should spot a Fatui behind a rock formation. Beat him up and he’ll surrender. At the same time, a Fatui researcher named Persikov will also admonish you.

It seems that something else is going on here. In any case, return to the initial island for a short conversation with Venti. Once you’re done, this will open up the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact.

For now, you can do the Surfpiercer activity, as well as look for Phantasmal Conches to unlock Fischl’s alternate outfit. The other activities should become available in the coming days, and we might even see some drastic changes to the zone’s layout.
