Hangzhou Spark Sign Twenty, Leave for 2023 Season

A true surprise contender in 2022, the Hangzhou Spark are a team that made some interesting moves to start off the offseason. While the Spark finished top four in the Grand Finals bracket last year, they were not content with the previous roster. THe Spark released the majority of their roster at the beginning of the offseason, leaving just Zheng “Shy” Yangjie and Qiulin “Guxue” Xu on the team. The Spark needed from new faces, and fans finally received word of the first two signings for the 2023 roster. On Sunday March 5, the Hangzhou Spark announced the signing of Wenjie “Twenty” Luo and Xin “Leave” Huang.

For those who may not know the name, Twenty previously played in the Overwatch League under the IGN of Elsa. Twenty has spent three years with the Chengdu Hunters before taking a break in 2022. Twenty played primarily off-tank throughout his time in the Overwatch League and proved to be solid piece of the Hunters roster. He joins the Spark as a depth piece, sitting comfortably behind all-star tank Guxue. Despite his time away, it appears that Hangzhou is confident in Twenty’s ability to pick up right where he left off.

With one player under a new name, there’s another with a name no fan could forget. Leave departs from the Hunters to join the Spark for the 2023 season, and Spark fans are surely thrilled to see the former MVP in pink and blue. Leave adds another level of playmaking alongside Shy, making this DPS duo one of the best in the entire league. Since his rookie year, Leave routinely dragged the Hunters to wins despite tough situations. In 2023, Leave is surely set up for another MVP caliber season.
