Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for January 10th, 2024. Relatively to a normal week, this isn’t as slow a day as some others since the year started. Really, it’s a fairly normal Wednesday. We have a few new releases to look at, none of which are bin-worthy, and some sales to check out. Still not much going on news-wise, and I’m out of reviews for the moment, but I think things are slowly starting to get into gear. Let’s get to what we’ve got!

New Releases

Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow ($13.99)

Indie developers sure are making some impressive-looking things these days. This is a relatively short stealth adventure game about a young woman named Cynthia who is on a journey to save her loved ones by taking on the dark forces gathering north of her village. It’s a bit of exploration, a bit of puzzle-solving, a lot of stealth, and a few other assorted elements thrown in for good measure. It seems to have gotten a reasonably positive reception over on Steam, so if you like what you see and don’t mind that it’s only a few hours long, you might want to take a closer look at it.

Cafe Owner Simulator ($18.99)

One of those cases where the title says pretty much exactly what the game is. Buy a location, fix it up, decorate it, deck it out with the necessary equipment, choose a menu, hire some staff, and open things up for business. Roll your profits back into the cafe and expand. As you go, you’ll unlock more features to make your cafe bigger and better. It seems fine for what it is, but do be wary of the usual issues with ports of this kind of game to Switch. Namely, the UI doesn’t seem to have been well optimized and the text is a bit on the tiny side in handheld mode. Well, I’m sure it won’t bother the dedicated.

Ikkarus and the Prince of Sin ($9.99)

This is a yaoi-themed visual novel with some management sim elements to spice things up. You’ve taken over a rundown tavern and need to bring it back to life. Plan your daily routine, take on quests, battle monsters in simple RPG-style combat, and romance one of three possible suitors. There are six different endings in total to discover based on your choices and actions.

Another fairly light day in terms of new sales. The main highlight would be a new low price for The House of Da Vinci 3, if that’s the kind of itch you need scratched. Not a great deal going on in the outbox either, but you might want to grab some Kemco, FDG, or VBlank games while they’re still at a nice price. Up to you. Check both lists at any rate, you might find something fun to play.
