Hogwarts Legacy Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming open-world magical action-RPG from WB Games Avalanche, is coming to Nintendo Switch. Despite no formal announcement from Warner Bros. or Nintendo, the FAQ for Hogwarts Legacy reveals that Hogwarts Legacy will be available on Nintendo’s console.

The game was initially announced only for PlayStation and Xbox, as well as PC. Whether or not this will be a cloud version of Hogwarts Legacy or a local download remains to be seen. GameSpot has followed up with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get more details.

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world single-player action RPG that takes place in the 1800s, which means Harry, Hermione, and Ron will not appear. Players take on the role of a student at Hogwarts as they embark on a “dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world.”

A recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast included a good look at gameplay, including its combat, which involves casting offensive and defensive spells. Players can also enchant and stun enemies. The RPG elements include enhancing skills in potion-making and spells, among other things. Players will use a broom as their mount, allowing them to fly around the castle quickly.

Though the game is set in the popular Wizarding World universe, it has been overshadowed at times by remarks from Harry Potter creator JK Rowling. The author has been criticized for her transphobic comments over the last several years. Rowling’s team worked with Warner Bros. on “all aspects of Hogwarts Legacy” to ensure it is a “true part of the Wizarding World experience…” The story in Hogwarts Legacy, however, was not written by Rowling.
