While playing as a Victim in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, there will be many moments when you feel overwhelmed, not fully knowing if a Family member is lurking nearby. As danger starts to close around you, pay attention to the proximity warning indicator surrounding your screen’s edges. Keep an eye on how severe the proximity warning effect becomes. The closer a Family member is, the stronger and more claustrophobic it will become. As it slowly creeps in towards the center of your screen, be prepared to quickly move or hide because a Family member is nearby.

However, you should know a few things about how the Proximity Warning indicator works in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. First, the Proximity Warning can’t detect danger on floors above or below you, so you must be careful when traversing staircases, ladders, or wells. Second, the Proximity Warning will not give you the specific direction of the Family member that is setting it off. This means you must always be aware of your surroundings and flip your camera around while hiding to locate the Family member. Stay hidden until the danger passes if needed and if you’re patient enough, you won’t be spotted by a Family member.

Currently, no Victim perks or attributes change the effectiveness of the Proximity Warning indicator in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. However, the Family has perks that can hide their actions or make it harder for Victims to be alerted to their actions or location, so don’t entirely rely on the Proximity Warning. You’ll want to rely on the environmental indicators like when they slam a door or run through bone charms because this can also tell you where a Family member is at currently.
