FFXIV has added a “Megashiba” mount to the game and it was quickly become very popular in game, leading players to wonder how to unlock it.
There’s really no way around it: the Megashiba is probably the most adorable thing to come out of FFXIV this year. Designed as a super-sized Shiba Inu, this mount allows players to summon and ride on the back of an adorable dog complete with a blue-green bandana and saddle cloth, a gold-trimed saddle with a red interior, and a beaded bracelet around its left front leg. This mount is a must-have for both dog and Doge lovers, alike — complete with emotes and a petting mechanic.
Now if only the developers would release it as a companion.

The only way to obtain the Megashiba mount is to purchase it off the FFXIV store. This item is a premium mount, so it has to be bought using real world currency. However, once purchased, it is account-bound and should be available to any character on the account.
Megashibe will run players $24.99.
For those interested in just how this dog was able to become larger than life, its description text explains that it was originally sold as a “mameshiba” — a nonexistent miniature Far Eastern dog. Somehow, this one continued to grow until it was large enough to carry human beings, though it remains “adorable as ever.” It enjoys walks and “the occasional flight” and is able to perform a variety of tasks.
