As discontent with Fortnite WILDS grows, some fans have reported that Fortnite is dying in 2023. Well, the player count says otherwise.

Ever since Fortnite’s launch in 2017, the Battle Royale has been one of the most popular video games on the market. Although some of the initial hype has worn off, Epic Games continues to introduce new features, game modes, and crossovers to keep the game at its very best, like Fortnite Creative 2.0 and Zero Build mode.

Fortnite WILDS might not be anyone’s favorite season, but that does not mean fans are staying off the game.

Fortnite is not dying in 2023, and the player count proves it. According to ActivePlayer, 237,524,910 people played Fortnite in just the last 30 days. Fortnite WILDS might be an unpopular season, but fans still want to spawn into the Battle Royale and try to secure a Victory Royale.

The exaggerated claims that Fortnite is dying could be from the slight drop-off in player count from January 2023 to now. At the beginning of the year, the average player count was 252,600,145 people. Although the number has decreased as the year has progressed, hovering around 230,000,000 players a month is no small feat.

As Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 promises new POIs, weapons, collaborations, and maybe even a visit to the moon, Fortnite’s player count will likely rise past the average totals throughout Fortnite WILDS.

How can Fortnite be dying when there are blockbuster collaborations in every major update? In Fortnite WILDS alone, Epic Games brought Futurama characters, Optimus Prime, WWE’s Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair, and everyone’s favorite sorcerers from Jujutsu Kaisen.

The mainstream additions to Fortnite not only excite the Fortnite community but also bring new eyes to the Battle Royale from outside audiences. New rumors even suggest that Fortnite update v27.00 will feature a huge LEGO collaboration that will have as much content as a full Fortnite season.

Plus, fans are still waiting for the highly anticipated Doctor Who crossover to finally come to Fortnite. Perhaps players will finally be able to take a trip in the TARDIS in Chapter 5.
