Jeondding’ Finishes His Time at UYU; A Free Agent

South Korean Tekken player Sang-hyun “Jeondding” Jeon, finishes his time with UYU and is now a free agent. After an announcement on Twitter, that his contract with UYU ended. Jeondding expresses his appreciation towards UYU and will always support them in the future. “Thank you for giving me such experiences and memories I could never forget, I’ll always support team UYU,” said Jeondding.

Jeondding first signed with UYU in 2017, and the contract lasted for four years. In the time Jeondding was with UYU, he was able to accomplish multiple top 8 and won several major tournaments. Such tournaments included EVO, Combo Breaker, and CEO.

When it comes to main characters, Jeondding is famous for characters in Tekken 7 such as Eddy, Julia, and Lucky Chloe. After placing high in tournaments, Jeondding was able to make himself one of Tekken’s top competitors in his debut years

His performance allowed him to place among the top Tekken 7 members at the time. According to dashfight, Jeondding was the 2nd highest-rated player in 2018. Ranking just below Jae-Min “Knee” Bae, and even above legendary players like Jinwoo “Saint” Choi, and Kim “JDCR” Hyunjin.

How The FGC Reacted To The Announcement.

Fans and fellow players wish Jeondding the best of luck with his future in the FGC and his life. “Best of luck in the future, hopefully, I get to see you killing it next season.” said Keenan “Kizzie Kay” Kizzie. “One of my first recruits to UYU, to see him grow into a champion and one of the FGC’s most liked competitors is one of my proudest achievements,” said Drew Kim, President, and Co-Founder of UYU.

Jeondding has not mentioned he’ll be playing for a new team or what’s next for his career in fighting games. However, Jeonnding confirmed he will be attending EVO 2022 in Aug. Likely to compete in Tekken 7.

Fans reply on Twitter hoping to hear more about the possibility of signing with a new organization.

There hasn’t been a comment or confirmation about whether it was UYU or Jeondding’s decision to not renew his contract with the organization. It does however seem it has ended on good terms as they both show appreciation for his time at UYU.

With the pandemic, many tournaments have turned to online styled tournaments to replace the canceled annual tournaments. Jeonnding’s last major tournament that was in person was at EVO Japan 2020. Jeondding was able to manage to reach top 32. Jeonnding also competed in online tournaments such as EVO 2021 Online and Tekken Online Challenge. Achieving 2nd place in the Tekken Online Challenge and placing high in the East Asian tournament for EVO online.

With EVO making its return to in-person tournaments it’s fair to expect Jeondding will be able to place high in the tournament playing Eddie or Julia. EVO 2022 will take place in Las Vegas, Nev. on Aug. 5-7.
