League of Legends Patch 13.22: The Biggest Winners and Losers

League of Legends Patch 13.22: The Biggest Winners and Losers

There are some surprises among LoL Winners and Losers of League of Legends Patch 13.22, let’s look at the champs that had the biggest glowups and greatest falls of Patch 13.22!

League of Legends continues its ever-evolving journey with the release of Patch 13.22, bringing a wave of changes which are aimed to keep the game healthy. We return with the analysis of the biggest winners and losers of this patch, which buffed champions such as Dr.Mundo and Rammus, while nerfing or adjusting a number of others. This update is also the one that brought the release of the Heartsteel skinline, so you can finally play as your favourite member of League’s newest band!

Winners of League of Legends Patch 13.22

Dr. Mundo

Dr. Mundo stands tall as one of the patch’s undeniable winners. Even though the latest patch only brought one buff to the Madman of Zaun, his performance has increased tremendously according to stats sites such as lolaltyics.com.

13.22 buffed the Passive Bonus Damage of Mundo’s E, Blunt Force Trauma, which is actually a partial revert from his previous nerfs. Still, his winrate increased 2% overall, sitting at a comfortable 52.22% in the toplane, while his pickrate also increased. The increase can’t be attributed just to the small buff he got, as the meta also shifted a bit, with some tankier champions reigning supreme – the favourite patients of the Doctor!

Rammus

Rammus enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as the Armordillo claims a spotlight in Patch 13.22. The only thing the last update changed was increasing the flat Bonus Armour that his W, Defensive Ball Curl gives by 10, but it still bumped his winrate up by quite a margin.

His winrate went up by more than 2%, putting the Ascended(?) warrior at almost 54%. He’s still an autowin champion into melee heavy compositions, and his CC-loaded kit can work wonders against any champion in the game. He’s also straightforward to play, which means that you can start winning games with him quite quickly after picking him up – even on the toplane!

Gragas

Even though Gragas got nerfed in the latest patch, he managed to fail upwards, as the Rabble Rouser saw an increase in winrate. Even though it was small, it’s still a victory for lovers of the Fat Man, as his E spam build was gutted as it now refunds 40% of the CD on hit instead of a flat amount, and the Ability Scaling of the ability was also brought down. He got a small buff to compensate for the nerfs, as his ult now travels faster by 0.05 seconds. Bomba!

Gragas continues to be an insanely versatile champion, but as he saw a series of nerfs this year, his winrate still sits under 50%. He also still has a presence in proplay, which is never a good indication, as it means that Riot must buff him carefully so that he doesn’t overtake the esports scene. Hopefully with the removal of Mythic items, Gragas can be adjusted again.

Losers of League of Legends Patch 13.22

Senna

The Redeemer has seen a resurgence thanks to her presence at Worlds, even though the competition is 3 patches behind the current live cycle. However, Senna has remained strong since 13.19, so some nerfs were in order for the love of Lucian. 13.22 reduced the damage of her Q, Piercing Darkness at the later levels, as well as hitting the healing of the ability as well.

This hurts both Support and ADC Senna, and while it shave almost 2% off her winrate, she’s still above 52%, so Senna mains shouldn’t be that concerned about her falling out of the meta.

Tahm Kench

The River King finds himself among the losers of Patch 13.22. Last patch, he received a significant buff to his passive. This resulted in Tahm Kench terrorizing the toplane again, as he could just statcheck most of the opposition.

The latest Patch tried to rein him in again reducing the bonus Health Scaling of the Bonus Magic Damage of his licks provided by his passive, This pushed him back to a 51% winrate in the toplane, which is a lot healthier than the 54% he was before. Riot doesn’t want to kick the Catfish out of his secondary role, but they can’t let him eat everything.

Janna

Patch 13.22 adjusted almost everything about Janna. The balance team changed her Attack Range, Base Mana, Mana/Health/Armor Growth, Base AD, AD Growth and Attack Windup, as well as all of her abilities. Her Passive now deals bonus damage the more bonus MS she has, her W is now her bread and butter, while her E doesn’t give more heal and shield power but gets reduced CD when she slows/knocks up an enemy.

Of course, drastic changes like this also hit a champion hard, and Janna fell from an almost 54% winrate to just under 51%. Players are still adjusting to her new power and ability path, but her pickrate increased tremendously, so Riot Games achieved their goal with The Storm’s Fury.

A few days have passed since the release of Patch 13.22, and while it brought a number of changes, it mostly tried to deal with problematic champions such as K’Sante and Tahm Kench. The Mage Attack Speed Increase system adjustment was a success, however, and the Janna rework also hit the mark. Riot Games is getting ready for the end of the season and the removal of Mythic items, so don’t expect big changes in the end of the year – but do check out our other League content!
